It was in 2012, I was in Tanzania for 14 days with my friend, choreographer Helle Fuglsang to produce and document a couple of dance shows in the slums of the suburbs. I encountered this little fella in the village of Kigamboni when we were rehearsing some dance with the locals in a private yard. The father of the house was a banana palm tree roof tiler - he would weave the crown leaves of the palm tree into roof tiles on the bare ground outside his house, while his son were playing cautiously around us 'muzungus' (white people). He had some skin condition that warranted this skin salvae, and after I took his photo he asked me for a coin for some candy. I didnt have any unfortunately, so our fixer gave him a couple of coins for me.
